ALOCASIA ‘CALIDORA’
Alocasia odora x Alocasia odora ‘California’
PARENTAGE: Alocasia odora x Alocasia odora ‘California’
SYNONYMS: N/A
HYBRIDIZER: LariAnn Garner (Aroidia Research)
VARIEGATION: N/A
DESCRIPTION: The Alocasia ‘Calidora’ being marketed today is a different selection of the original cross, having more of the characteristics of a vigorous Alocasia odora than the much smaller Alocasia odora ‘California’. This selections was chosen because it grows more compactly and inherited much more of the rounded leaf characteristic of Alocasia odora ‘California’. It also produces abundant offsets and can grow in sun or semi-shade.
This hybridization produced a range of morphologic types, some of which bore no resemblance to either parent. See Alocasia 'Pixie Teardrops' pages for examples of the more bizarre progeny obtained.
