ALOCASIA MACRORRHIZOS ‘BIG MAC’
DESCRIPTION: Alocasia macrorrhizos ‘Big Mac’ is a cultivar of Alocasia macrorrhizos introduced by LariAnn Garner of Aroidia Research circa 2004
LariAnn describes this cultivar as being heavier and more vigorous, rivaling Alocasia macrorrhizos ‘Borneo Giant’, with the main distinguishing factor being that the Alocasia macrorrhizos ‘Big Mac’ inflorescences are the longest of any Alocasia, 18” from spathe to tip when mature. They are reported to produce copious amounts of fertile pollen, unlike the Alocasia macrorrhizos ‘Borneo Giant’, which shows shorter inflorescences and a more modest amount of pollen.
