ALOCASIA ODORA ‘OKINAWA SILVER’
CULTIVAR DESCRIPTION: Alocasia odora ‘Okinawa Silver’ is the only variegated cultivar of Alocasia odora
It is believed to have originated from Okinawa, the southernmost prefecture of Japan.
It has a much smaller growth habit than Alocasia odora or the white variegated Alocasia macrorrhizos or white variegated Alocasia odora ‘California’, with the largest specimen reported by the late Alan Galloway at 3 feet tall.
While there seems to be some confusion in identifying it, Alocasia odora ‘Okinawa Silver’ shows a characteristic asymmetry between the white and green sectors, which is not found in other cultivars of Alocasia odora, Alocasia odora ‘California’, and Alocasia macrorrhizos
