ALOCASIA ‘TINY DANCERS’

Alocasia brisbanensis x Alocasia odora

PARENTAGE: Alocasia brisbanensis (ovule parent) x Alocasia odora (pollen parent)

SYNONYMS: incorrectly refered to as Alocasia ‘Tiny Dancer’

HYBRIDIZER: Hybridized in 2009 by LariAnn Garner (Aroidia Research) and released in 2010 under patent USPP26607P2

VARIEGATION: N/A

DESCRIPTION: Alocasia ‘Tiny Dancers’ is distinguished by its very dwarf plant habit, uniquely teardrop-shaped leaves, and long, delicate petioles. It also exhibits a significantly increased number of leaves at maturity compared to its parents and does not produce flowers or seeds. In comparison to its parent plants, Alocasia brisbanensis and Alocasia odora, Alocasia ‘Tiny Dancers’ is much smaller, with more leaves and finer petioles. It shares similarities with Alocasia cucullata and Alocasia odora in leaf shape, but it remains distinct due to its smaller size, greater leaf number, and lack of flowering, making it a unique addition to the Alocasia genus.
