ALOCASIA ‘CORAZON’*

CULTIVAR DESCRIPTION: Alocasia ‘Corazon’, originally named Alocasia heterophylla ‘Corazon Aquino’ after Philippine president Maria Corazon "Cory" Sumulong Cojuangco Aquino, is an undescribed species from the Philippines which is characterized by wide, coriaceous and lustrous pale green leaves, and has been reported to be hardier, surviving temperatures in the 40s.

NOTES: Among Philippine growers, this cultivar is considered to be a distinct species from Alocasia heterophylla, based on analyzing their inflorescences but no published work on this topic yet exists.

In collections this was also called Alocasia ‘Vic Santos’, presumably after a Philippine grower.
