ALOCASIA ‘LUKIWAN’

Alocasia alba x Alocasia sinuata

PARENTAGE: Alocasia alba x Alocasia sinuata

HYBRIDIZER: Wawan Santoso (Java, Indonesia)

The story of Alocasia ‘Lukiwan’ starts in Malaysia, at the Chong Lee Nursery where Wawan worked between 2001 and 2016.

He hybridized Alocasia sinuata with Alocasia alba, and named the resulting plant ‘Lukiwan’: Luki (Luki Ani is his wife’s name) + Wan (Wan from his name Wawan)

Since he was working in Malaysia at the time, this hybrid, along with A. 'Albatuwan', which was created around the same time, are more prevalent in Malaysia, and more rarely through exporting, in Thailand and Indonesia.
