ALOCASIA LONGILOBA ‘PURPLE’
DESCRIPTION: Alocasia longiloba ‘Purple’ is likely a cultivar of what has historically been grown as Alocasia longiloba ‘Denudata’.
It is characterized by a distinctive sagittate shape with a broad, acuminate blade and clearly defined basal lobes. A prominent central midrib gives rise to several branching secondary veins that contrast vividly against a glossy, dark upper surface with pinkish hues, while the underside boasts a striking purplish tint with raised, well-defined veins.
Despite the similarity in name, one should not confuse Alocasia ‘Purpley’ which is a hybrid, to Alocasia longiloba ‘Purple’ which is a cultivar, as they only share the purple coloration.
